DIMENSIONAL ANALOGY
Dimensional Analogy is a site-specific, 270-degree projection mapping piece inspired by the mathematical concept of four-dimensional space. While our daily lives are defined by the x, y, and z coordinates of the three-dimensional world, this work introduces a fourth spatial parameter. Through the inherent playfulness of mathematics, the piece challenges the 3D bias of the human mind, inviting viewers to perceive space beyond the limits of physical intuition.
The unique, unorthodox shells of the Festival Center provide an ideal foundation for this speculative visual research. By treating architectural geometry as a fluid canvas, the work transforms the building’s surfaces into entirely new environments populated by complex polytopic shapes. These forms break the constraints of the existing structure, creating a sense of depth that suggests the presence of a hidden dimension.
Ultimately, the piece blurs the boundary between the mathematical and the perceptible. It uses the site's unique geometry not just as a screen, but as a gateway to explore how bold visual experimentation can redefine our understanding of volume and reality. By manifesting the theoretical, "Dimensional Analogy" asks us to reconsider the structures of the world we think we know.
